FAQ: Amazon Neighborhood Personalization Program

1. General Information

  • This program allows Amazon employees to collaborate with a talented artist to create a custom artwork for their neighborhood or workflow. It’s a unique way to reflect your team’s identity and values through art, all while creating a distinct sense of place.

  • We’ve partnered with independent artists from around the world, each offering a distinct style. You can choose an artist from our curated menu, ensuring their approach aligns with your team’s vision.

2. Getting Started

  • Prior to initiating this program request, please consult with your building’s Facility Manager or EA. We ask that you obtain clearance to proceed with the wall location and desired size of artwork.

    To begin, you’ll need to:

    • Select an artist from our menu.

    • Select an artwork size.

    • Complete a questionnaire outlining your team’s vision and key design elements.

    • Submit details about the wall, including a photo, dimensions, and notes on any objects that may impact the placement of the artwork.

  • Artist assignments are handled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Our curators will review your team’s information and artwork vision to best match you with your preferred artist.

  • If an artist is not available for your project, we will give you the opportunity to select a new artist for immediate kick-off. If you are still set on the original choice, your team’s inquiry will be added to a waitlist for that particular artist.

  • Although this is all about collaboration, we will need someone from each Amazon team to lead the decision and design process. Find someone who would be excited to brainstorm creative ideas, advocate for their colleagues, and hone in on pointed feedback. It’s a fun process, and we’re excited to have someone eager to lead the way.

At this time we are not accepting submissions without a designed Team Leader.

  • Yes! Late submissions will be placed on a waitlist. We’ll contact you when a spot in the program becomes available.

  • The waitlist will depend on the number of submissions we receive. If our artists are currently booked, we will log your submission and assign you a spot on the waitlist. Teams on the waitlist will be informed of where they are on the list with an estimated lead time. You are always welcome to reach out to us for updates at amazonpersonalization@indiewalls.com and we will get back to you with any available information.

4. Design and Feedback

  • The process includes:

    • Initial Sketch: Two black-and-white concepts based on your questionnaire.

    • Feedback Loop: Opportunity to review and refine the initial sketch.

    • Color Sketch: A more detailed version with colors for additional input.

    • Final Mockup: A polished design incorporating all your feedback.

  • Your feedback is integral at each stage. You’ll have the opportunity to refine details such as layout, color palette, and specific design elements to ensure the mural matches your vision.

  • Each team is empowered to voice and visualize concepts, ideas, and individual expression. Showcasing your team is key! With placement on workfloors and in semi-public settings, artworks should not portray elements included - but not limited to - political commentary, inappropriate or provocative visuals, reference to religion, or any culturally sensitive material.

Note that all final concepts are subject to FM review prior to production.

  • Your role includes:

    • Confirming wall placement with FM.

    • Reviewing and providing timely feedback during each design phase.

    • Signing off on the final design and retrieving final design approval from FM.

5. Production and Installation

  • The artwork is printed on canvas, stretched over wooden bars for easy hanging.

  • The artwork will be shipped directly to your office, and Amazon’s Facility Management team will hang the artwork for your team.

6. Additional Information

  • The artwork is created exclusively for your office. While it can be displayed in your office and featured in the artist’s portfolio, it cannot be reproduced - digitally or physically - for other projects.

  • The artwork is created and printed specifically for your chosen wall. If any changes have to be made, please contact your Facility Manager and your Indiewalls Project Manager as soon as possible.
